چکیده

The complete or partial spontaneous regression of large arteriovenous malformations (AVM) is very rare [1-5]. In most cases, a hemorrhagic event or surgical manipulation will have contributed to the thrombosis of the AVM [2, 3]. We report here a patient with large bilateral basal ganglia AVMs who presented with headaches. She was neurologically intact and has remained so for 1 0 years. The patient recently developed new bifrontal headaches that were not associated with hemorrhage or ischemia as revealed by MR imaging. An angiogram demonstrated near complete regression of the large AVMs. This case is unique because of the bilateral location of the AVMs in the basal ganglia as well as their spontaneous regression.

Hypofractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery in a Large Bilateral Thalamic and Basal Ganglia Arteriovenous Malformation

Purpose. Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in the basal ganglia and thalamus have a more aggressive natural history with a higher morbidity and mortality than AVMs in other locations. Optimal treatment-complete obliteration without new neurological deficits-is often challenging. We present a patient with a large bilateral basal ganglia and thalamic AVM successfully treated with hypofractionate...

Bilateral symmetrical cerebral arteriovenous malformations in the basal ganglia--case report.

A 21-year-old male presented with visual disturbance followed by severe headache. Computed tomography showed right thalamic hemorrhage entering the right lateral ventricle. Cerebral angiography revealed bilateral symmetrical arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) fed by the lenticulostriate, anterior choroidal, and lateral posterior choroidal arteries and draining into the vein of Galen. Partial re...

Extrapyramidal dysfunction with cerebral arteriovenous malformations.

Arteriovenous malformations have only rarely been implicated as a cause of basal ganglia dysfunction. In four instances where such a lesion was uncovered, abnormal involuntary movements were present. In two, tremor involving the contralateral limbs occurred, while in others the head and neck were involved in dystonic movements and posture. The clinical and angiographic characteristics of these ...

Rare co-occurrence of dural arteriovenous fistula and arteriovenous malformation with bilateral subcortical and basal ganglia calcification.

The present study describes the imaging findings in a patient with dural arteriovenous fistula (AVR) and arteriovenous malformation (AVM) with bilateral subcortical and basal ganglia calcification. A 29 year old male patient presented with chief complaint of recent onset of generalized tonic clonic seizures and mild disorientation. The imaging studies on MCT demonstrated diffuse, symmetric calc...

Spontaneous Angiographic Regression of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformations: Angiographic Disappearance is not the Real Cure Serebral Arteriyovenöz Malformasyonların Spontan Anjiyografik Gerilemesi: Anjiyografik Kaybolma Gerçek Tam Tedavi Değildir

Angiographically occult arteriovenous malformations (AOAVMs) are poorly understood. AOAVMs include spontaneous regression of cerebral AVMs. Here we discuss spontaneous angiographical regression of cerebral arteriovenous malformations (SRAVM). We present the case of a 34-year-old male patient with SRAVM in whom an arteriovenous (AV) shunt remnant was revealed by intraoperative indocyanine green ...
